PeerBoard is a community form that manages discussion forums to simplify communication between clients, users, and other members.

An integration of PeerBoard with Plug&Paid allows you to create private access paid memberships and deliver exclusive content and benefits to your members.

This tutorial describes the way to set up a private, subscription based communities by integrating Plug&Paid with PeerBoard.

Follow these integration steps:

1. Log into your PeerBoard Community or create a new one. For setting up the community platform, check this Guide.
2. Set community to private: Restrict access to approved members only in privacy settings: PeerBoard > Settings > General > AccessSelect Invite-only member registration and click Save
3. Log into your Plug&Paid account
4. Connect Stripe account: If you haven't connected Stripe yet, you can do it like this: Settings > Payment Gateways > Activate Stripe account
   

5. Add a billing plan: Select Products > Add a Product > Add a Billing Plan

6. Add title, price, billing cycle, description, images, license and more

7. Create a new or click on View Details of an existing Plug and select Plug Settings

8. Select Redirect URL

9. Paste the PeerBoard community Redirect URL and select Type

10. Customize checkout page: Click on desired Plug or click on View Details. Select Checkout Customer

11. Activate members: After Plug&Paid and PeerBoard are connected to the Zapier template, new members who have gone through the Plug&Paid checkout process will seamlessly arrive in the PeerBoard community.

Connecting the apps

1. Open up the Premade Zapier Template

2. Click on: Sign in to Plug&Paid

3. To get API token you need first go to: Plug&Paid Settings > API Settings and copy the token

4. Paste the API key in the Zapier window.

5. Click on: Sign in to Peerboard

6. To get API token you need first go to PeerBoard. Visit Settings > Hosting > API Auth Token and copy the token.

7. Paste your token in the Zapier window

8. Click the button "Turn on Zap"

And you are all set!

Once the implementation is completed you can start expanding your community with PeerBoard. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our support.

Before we start, a bit of housekeeping:

1. Email blasts have a new reduced pricing of €0.002 per sent email.
2. Transaction fees for offline payments (cash on delivery, bank transfer etc) are now charged at €0.15, down from €0.25 previously.
3. One-time fees have been discontinued. We are working to migrate all legacy one time fees to the newly released billing plan addons engine. Note: Billing plan addons support discounts and manual taxes so it is recommended to review your setup if you were using one-time fees to avoid potential issues.
4. Removed all support for legacy manual shipping taxes (pre 2020). Shipping taxes can now only be added via the "Taxes & Fees" section.
5. Stripe has been made available for merchants from Mexico.

Subscription Addons

Merchants now have the ability to add and remove addons from their active Subscriptions. This is useful in cases where you offer additional services to your clients and want add the cost to their existing subscription. You can find the new addon functionality by clicking on one of your active subscriptions.

Addons have powerful options such as duration (forever, once or number of months) and support dynamic tax rates.

VAT compatible

Subscription addons are VAT compatible. If the subscription is billed under automated VAT rules, then when creating an addon, you will have the option to choose the VAT classification:

1. Physical (Standard VAT rates - Seller country)
2. Digital (MOSS VAT - Customer country)
3. No VAT

We will apply the correct VAT based on this classification.

Note: If the customer has verified their VAT number and reverse charge rules are applied, then no VAT will be added.

Physical Subscriptions

A highly requested feature was to add physical subscriptions that support shipping. Physical subscriptions are extremely useful for businesses that ship physical goods to their customers on a recurring basis.

To enable physical subscriptions, when creating or editing a billing plan select "Physical Product Subscription" as its category.

Physical subscriptions support all the standard billing plan options including trials and order limits. Moreover, if you offer trials then you can choose whether to charge the shipping cost during the trial period or not.

When you onboard clients on your physical subscription, you can find the recurring shipping cost as a Subscription Addon in the newly added "Addons" tab when viewing a subscription. You can remove the shipping cost from an active subscription at any point.

Recurring Shipping Cost & Bundling

The recurring shipping cost for a physical subscription is calculated by taking into consideration a variety of factors such as bundling rules, quantity, whether it was part of a larger order, trial deductions and so on.

Shipping bundling is supported for physical subscriptions. They can be bundled standalone or with other types of products such as physical products.

Additional Options:

1. Charge/do not charge shipping cost during trial
2. Discounts are supported by default for physical subscriptions. Discounts to the shipping cost are applied "once", "forever" or "number of months" depending on how you setup your discount. Recurring shipping discounts cannot be stacked with other types of discounts.  
3. VAT compatibility: VAT for physical subscriptions is charged according to the merchant's country (unless reverse charge is applied).

Billing Plan Addons (Beta)

Before this release, when merchants wanted to charge one-time fees with the billing plans they could do so by using the "one-time" fee functionality on their products. This feature has been discontinued in favour of "billing plan addons".

The key benefits of billing plan addons are:

1. You can offer multiple addons on a single billing plan
2. You can set their VAT classification (digital/physical) if you have EU automated rates enabled
3. You can add custom taxes to addons
4. You can create discounts (one time, lifetime ore recurring) for addons
5. You can set an expiry duration for each addon (lifetime, once or number of payments)

Addons are listed as separate line item during checkout. If an addon is recurring, it will be also be created as a subscription addon (see top), which you can remove from an active subscription at any point.

Other Subscription improvements

1. When switching a customer to a new plan, you can now choose whether the switch requires customer approval or not. If customer approval is not required, then we complete the switch immediately.
2. We have added a quantity option when switching a customer to a new plan.
3. We have added the option to keep an active trial (or not) when switching a customer to a new plan.
4. We have added the option to choose the way subscription cancellations are handled. The available options are: 1. cancel at the end of the current billing period 2. immediate cancellation. Note that if you have webhooks configured and choose the first option, then the webhook for the cancellation event will be sent at the end of the billing period.

Inclusive/Exclusive Taxes (Beta)

Another highly requested feature is the option to set tax calculation as "inclusive" or "exclusive". There are two way to activate "inclusive" taxes.

1. Globally (Settings -> Taxes & Fees): Changing this option will automatically update the tax calculation method on all your shopping carts and newly created custom invoices.

2. On Product-Level: You can toggle the tax calculation option when creating or editing a product.

Notes:

1. Switching between "inclusive" and "exclusive" tax calculation does not convert your product prices. You will have to update them manually.
2. Product level tax calculation overwrites the "Global" setting.
3. When adding tax rates on a subscription, you have the option choose whether the tax is inclusive or exclusive.
4. Fixed amount fees are always exclusive.
5. You cannot configure the tax calculation of Billing Plan Addons.  They always follow the tax calculation setting of the parent product.

Shipping VAT Calculation (Beta)

We have expanded our EU VAT Calculation engine by offering more options on how shipping VAT is calculated. You can now choose between 3 options when it comes to calculating shipping VAT:

1. Charge Merchant VAT Rate (default)
2. Charge proportionally to the product prices (mixed VAT support according the category of the product).
3. Do not charge any shipping VAT

Recurring Custom Invoices

If you have a Stripe account, you can now invoice your customers on a recurring basis when creating custom invoices. You can configure the billing interval, billing cycle and whether to charge shipping during trial (if the invoice supports shipping).

When the customer completes their first payment for the recurring invoice, a subscription will be created which you can access and manage by visiting the "Live Subscriptions" section from the sidebar.

The customer will receive a hosted link where they can manage their recurring invoice with options to update their registered card, approve plan switching, cancel the invoice and more.

Notes:

1. When creating a recurring invoice you cannot use existing inventory items.
2. Having a Stripe account is a pre-requisite in order to create recurring invoices.
3. EUR currency based invoices can enable SEPA  payment options such as iDEAL and Sofort for the customer to use. For the rest of the currencies only credit cards can be enabled.

Stripe merchants in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States can now accept payments with Klarna. The requirements to use Klarna are:

• You own a Stripe account based one of the supported countries;
• You are selling in EUR, USD, GBP, DKK, SEK, or NOK;
• Your customers are from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
• Klarna has to be activated in your Stripe dashboard

Based on your customer’s country and amount, Klarna offers various payment options. The options offered to the customer include:

• Instalments: 3 - 4 payments
• Pay later: Pay for the purchase in 14, 21, or 30 days.
• Financing: Spread the cost of a purchase over multiple months.
• Pay now: Pay for the purchase immediately

Klarna is available across the whole plug&paid platform, including plugs, invoices and affiliate payouts.

Note:

1. Subscriptions via Klarna are not supported.
2. Apart from the standard "prohibited businesses" restrictions; Charities, political organisations and general initiatives are not allowed to use Klarna.
3. Refunds are available within 180 days for payment confirmation and may take up to 7 business days to be completed.
4. Dispute processes are handled by Klarna and they may contact you for clarifications in the event that a customer files a dispute.
5. If your Stripe account is based in the United States, then only customers for the United States can use Klarna as a payment gateway.

Improvements

1. Added support for Albania
2. Added support for Albanian LEK
3. You can now mark any invoice as "paid", regardless of how the invoice was created or what payment method was used
4. You can now update the tracking number for a sale on demand
5. You can now choose whether to send an email to the customer when adding a tracking number on a sale
6. Merchants will receive separate emails when an instalment payment fails.
7. Added a new page: "Cancelled Instalments" which you can access from the sidebar.
8. You can now filter statistics for custom invoices in the dashboard.
9. We updated the sales export and DateV export features.
10. We updated the content for payout confirmation.

Bug Fixes

1. Fixed a bug where digital downloads would not keep the original file name and instead were showing auto-generated name.
2. Fixed the localisation and messaging of credit card errors at checkout when attempting to create a subscription.
3. Fixed a bug that was showing "invalid date" as the cancellation date of a cancelled subscription.
4. Fixed a UX issue where the actual number of subscriptions for a customer was not showing correctly.  
5. Fixed a "not authorized" problem when marking pending orders as done.
6. Fixed a UX issue where the pending orders number was not updating correctly
7. Fixed an issue that was causing invoice downloads to use the merchant's account language instead of the sale language.
8. Fixed a bug with the subtotal amount being off when exporting sales CSV

• Added an option to export sales in Datev format, for merchants that use the Datev accounting system. The option can be found by clicking the Total Sales widget in the Dashboard, the clicking the top right menu icon.
• You can now pause/unpause Instalment Plans;
• Added a product filter on automation follow-ups, so you can now trigger follow-up events when the customer purchases a specific product;

• Added support for adding a different email sender address for marketing emails;
• Removed the "Audience" options for Ongoing Campaigns, which now trigger events for all customers, regardless of the initial audience;
• Added an option for "minimum payout amount" in Affiliate Programs;
• We added a Status column in the Live Instalments table, to spot your paused or past due instalments more easily;
• Added a red badge if an instalment gets paused by Stripe due to miscellaneous reasons (such as bank error "do_not_honor"), which you can try and unpause, in order to trigger another charge attempt;
• You can now add negative price deltas for variations;
• Added support for Uzbekistan;

• Fixed an issue where the "Survey" section in purchase emails did not respect the custom label as configured under Custom Fields;
• Instead of showing a generic error message showing when adding a customer failed, we now show the exact reason;
• Fixed a Safari issue where the MOSS widget was starting the mouse drag when selecting the MOSS period;
• Fixed an issue with overlapping dates on Safari, in the date widget;

• You can now enable or disable the Marketing module for all clients, from Settings / Features;
• You can now toggle the Marketing module for specific clients, from the Usage & Addons tab;
• Added support for adding fallback SMTP credentials for when your clients did not set up their own SMTP for marketing.

Before we start with the updates, a bit of house keeping:

1. We are changing our pricing plans. The old 39 EUR/month Lightning plan is being discontinued it is being replaced with a brand new fixed fee plan. The fees are 10 cents - 25 cents per transaction (depending on volume) and offers unlimited transactions, unlimited products and all the amazing features you know and love. With tons of features and low transaction fees, there is truly no question on which e-commerce system you  should choose and recommend to your friends. If you are on the 39 EUR/month plan or the 2.5% fee plan, you can switch to this the new plan at any time. More details here.
2. We have expanded our team with highly experienced professionals to help us bring you the best software and service as possible. You will have a chance to meet the new recruits in the coming weeks and months ahead.
3. We have discontinued our affiliate programs for our monthly plans. We are currently working to create a new affiliate structure according to the newly launched plans.
4. The roadmap planning for the remaining of the year is almost finalised. We will be making announcements pretty soon, once the 7.0 campaign is completed.

The most anticipated feature of this release is finally available. Here is a brief breakdown of what is included:

Campaigns

You can create campaigns based on filters and how you like to segment your audience. This includes options like customers who purchases from a specific plug  or customers who are subscribed to a specific mailing list. Campaigns can be "ongoing" (automated) or "email blast" (one-off emails):

With "ongoing" campaigns you can automate your marketing activities and create funnels based on a number of triggers and filters that are tied to your selling activity such as 'cart abandoned' or 'subscription payment failed'.

Each automation trigger can have one or more follow-ups: whether or not the customer has open the email, if they have made a purchase after X amount of days and so on. You can monitor the performance of your follow-up actions in a nice tree structure.

Email Builder & Pre-built Email Templates

When we announced the 'Marketing Automation' feature back in 2020 we mentioned that we will be providing you with a number of pre-made templates to use for different triggers, such as the one below.

In addition, when adding Campaigns in plug&paid you need to have the flexibility to create email templates that provide you with a higher chance at conversion and accommodate as many scenarios as possible. For this purpose, we bring you a custom email builder as a bonus feature.

Unleash your creativity and create email-templates that truly captivate your audience and convert as best as possible. Our builder supports multi-language, dynamic previews and it generates email templates that are compatible with the most popular email clients and devices on the market.

Revolut (Beta)

We are happy to announce that we have integrated Revolut as a payment gateway. If you own a Revolut business account, you can now accept payments from your customers via Revolut Pay or directly with credit cards (VISA and Mastercard).

To enable Revolut, go to your payment gateways and attach your merchant key. After that you will be able to enable Revolut Pay and Credit Cards (via Revolut) separately on your plugs, custom invoices and affiliate programs.

Utrust (Beta)

If you are into cryptocurrencies, then you will be happy to hear that we have integrated Utrust, a seamless integration that gives businesses the power to accept digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Etherium.

To enable Utrust, visit your payment gateways tab, click on the Utrust card and attach your merchant keys that you can find in your Utrust account. After that you will be able to enable Utrust on your plugs, custom invoices and affiliate programs.

Google Pay (via Stripe)

Stripe account holders can now enable Google Pay as a payment option on their plugs, custom invoices and affiliate programs.

New Dashboard

We have launched a new and improve dashboard that will help you get better insights on your selling activity, conversion rates and reporting. Some of the most notable improvements are:

1. The ability to search and filter sales by a number of options such as customers, plugs, affiliate partners and channels;
2. Tracking and displaying the gateway fees that you pay to PayPal, Stripe etc.;
3. Historical MOSS data by quarter;
4. Ability to export all sales related to a search query (just click the link under Total Sales);

Plug Types are removed

Having multiple plug types for different selling scenarios was more confusing than helpful. Hence now there is only a single plug that supports multiple products of different types by default.

Note: This only affects new plugs.

General Improvements

1. New export functionalities across the whole app for sales, customers, abandonments, plugs, affiliates and more;
2. You can now duplicate "Custom Billing Fields";

Our affiliate module has been optimized further and brings you some long awaited features.

Affiliates now have full channel functionality (Standard Programs)

They can create multiple channels of different types (buttons/widgets/custom elements/QR)  to track different marketing campaigns.

When the affiliate clicks the "Get Link" option on your affiliate program they will see the screen below that allow them to create and edit channels.

You as a merchant will be able to monitor the channels when you are viewing your affiliate program statistics by visiting the brand new "Affiliate Links" tab.

You can now attribute sales to affiliates

You can now attribute a sale made by checkout or custom invoice to one of your affiliates. You can also remove attribution and update the commission credited on demand (unless a payout for the sale has already been made).

Other Improvements

1. You can now email affiliates to attach their payout gateways if they haven't done so;
2. You can now disable emails when approving, declining or pausing an affiliate from an affiliate program;
3. You can now duplicate affiliate programs;
4. You can now credit commission to an affiliate for sales made via custom invoices;
5. Google Pay, Revolut Pay, Revolut Credit Card Processing and Utrust are now available for payouts;

MOSS updates

You can now enable and disable MOSS rules if they do not apply to your business. This is useful in cases where businesses sell digital products less than 10,000 EURO annually in specific EU member states. To customize MOSS rules, visit  "Taxes & Fees" and select the "Settings" option on the "Automated European Union VAT" row.

Other Tax Improvements

1. You can now select "Instalment Plans" in a tax rate's payment whitelist;
2. Added VAT tax support for Cape Verde Islands;

General Improvements for Checkout and Invoices

1. You can now create/register invoices with past dates;
2. You can now initiate partial refunds for cash on delivery and bank transfer sales;

5. Fixed an issue with state information being sent from the cart when it wasn't supposed to;

Our mission is to help you setup your online sales channels, but also to help you increase your revenue in the process, which is why we decided our users need an easy way to use email marketing, right from within our platform.

This way, you don't have to pay for an email marketing tool and can focus on your sales and marketing activities, while managing everything from a single place. You can import and export your contacts at any time, so we don't keep you locked in.

This feature is included in all plans and has no limits. However, in order to send marketing emails, you will need to add your own SMTP credentials.

Mailing Lists

You can now create unlimited Mailing Lists, that you can use to segment and re-target your customers and prospects. Each list also has a Subscribe form that you can embed on your site, and comes with a versatile customizer:

The embeddable form can be easily modified to fit your website's design, allows you to change the text in multiple languages and to optionally use a redirect URL after the visitor subscribes, for users that need to start a funnel with this form.

People that subscribe using this form need to confirm, by clicking a confirmation link that comes to their email address. This double opt-in functionality is mandatory and cannot be disabled, due to privacy reasons (we hate unsolicited emails as much as the next person).

Email Templates

In order to send an email to one or more Mailing Lists, you need to create the email content first. Adding an Email Template is simple, and you can easily customize the font, colors, add images, lists, tables, links or emoticons.

The customizer also shows you a preview of how your email will look in a person's inbox, including the preview section (its importance is highly underestimated - most people decide whether or not to read your e-mail based on this text).

Because we're encouraging cross-border sales, you can save your email template in multiple languages, and the system will match your subscriber's country to the language of the email they receive.

Campaigns

By creating a Campaign, you can send an email to one or more lists, and you can choose to send it now or schedule it for later. When opening the campaign's details sheet, you can find the metrics you expect inside:

Subscribers

Your subscribers can unsubscribe at any time, with an easy 1-click unsubscribe link in their emails. If they clicked by mistake, they have a 1-click re-subscribe link to continue receiving marketing emails from you.

If you want to send an email to a single subscriber, you don't have to create a campaign. Simply use the "Send E-mail" button on the subscriber's sheet.

You can also import contacts from CSV files or manually, on demand.

New Subscription Payment Methods (Stripe Merchants)

European merchants can now use SEPA direct debit, iDEAL, Bancontact and Sofort as payment options when selling billing plans. Enabling multiple methods will allow the customer to choose which one they prefer during checkout.

The requirements to enable the new payment methods are:

1. The Subscription being sold must be in euros (EUR).
2. The payment gateways must be activated in your Stripe account.
3. During checkout, the customer will be redirected to authorize their bank for off-session transactions.

Note that SEPA based Direct Debits (including iDEAL, Bancontact & Sofort) are never retried. If the customer does not pay, their subscription will automatically be cancelled, regardless of the settings configured in your plug&paid and Stripe accounts.

Additionally you can offer to your customers the option to switch their default payment method; for example from credit card to SEPA direct debit etc. To enable this option, edit or add a subscription product and scroll to find the new "Payment Gateways" option.

New Features

• You can now choose how many retries you would like to allow for a billing plan and what to do when the maximum number is reached (some options might be overwritten by your Stripe billing settings);
• You can now add/remove taxes on ongoing subscriptions;
• Checkout now supports selling multi-quantity subscriptions. This is now the default option. You can turn this off by setting the Order Limit of your product to 1.

Custom Taxes

We added a new module under Settings, called "Taxes and Fees", where you can set up your sales tax, markup fees or any other type of tax. This unlocks taxes for all countries on Earth and we're excited to launch this as a new feature!

You can add, edit, duplicate, pause and activate taxes on the fly. There is no limit on how many taxes can be created or applied to an order.

Key features of the new tax module:

1. Option to apply the tax on specific products, specific product categories or all your inventory.
2. Option to apply the tax on a country or state. Currently state level taxes are supported for the following countries: Australia, India, Malaysia, United States, and Canada. If you like us to add state level support for your country lets us know.
3. Option to apply the tax according to the selected payment gateway chosen at checkout. For example you can setup a 10% Tax that only gets applied if Cash on delivery is used during checkout.  
4. You can name the tax as you need, according to your local accounting specifications.
5. Option to charge a fixed amount instead of a percentage. This is useful if you like to charge an extra fee if an order meets some requirements.
6. Shipping taxes that you can filter to apply on specific shipping methods or all your shipping methods.

Improvements for EU Automated Taxes

1. VAT sales require evidence of the customer's location. Usually the customer's billing address on the invoice is sufficient; however not in all cases, and especially when it comes to B2B transactions. To make your life easier, all VAT sales now have an "Evidence" section with customer classification and any relevant evidence that were provided during checkout;

plug&paid automatically attempts to verify any VAT number provided during checkout with the EU's VIES database. If we successfully do so, then a green checkmark will be displayed on any relevant sales alongside the customer's IP address as shown above.

2. Added support for West Indies Guadeloupe / Martinique / La réunion, where VAT is 8.5%. The correct VAT is applied according to the customer's postcode.

Custom Shipping Methods

We added a new, central place where you can find and manage all of your Shipping Methods. It is located in the sidebar, under Settings. Moreover we released a bunch of new features for manual shippings that you will love!

1. Shipping methods can now be mapped to multiple plugs at the same time.
2. You can now import and detach shippings on a plug.
3. You can now duplicate, activate and pause shipping methods.
4. You can now add new Shipping Methods, and map them to states. Currently state level shippings are supported for the following countries: Australia, India, Malaysia, United States, Germany, Romania and Canada. If you'd like us to add state level support for your country, let us know.
5. You can now map Shipping methods to postcodes (all countries).

Each custom shipping method has its own sheet with useful information such as the plugs that is attached to, bundling rules and related sales.

We've also expanded our support for bundling with new custom options. These new options support "range" and "minimum quantity" rules. Moreover, each rule can be set to apply as a fixed cost or per unit, giving you additional flexibility when setting up your checkout flows.

Improvements

• You can now enable Customer Portal access to old customers;
• You can now force all checkout sessions to create accounts in your Customer Portal (bypassing the opt-in consent), from your Customer Portal settings;
• You can now edit "bank transfer" invoices;
• Added a progress-bar when uploading a digital file, to avoid interrupting the upload by closing the sheet before it is done uploading a large file;
• Added an option to show optional consents with a checkmark at checkout;
• Added more audit entries in the Events tabs across the dashboard app;

The UK has officially left the European Union as the transition period ended on  December 31st 2020. Businesses in the EU selling to UK consumers and UK businesses selling to the EU, will have to consult with their accountants to find out how they are affected by Brexit (if they haven't done so already). For example selling of physical goods will be subject to new customs regulations, import VAT and registration obligations. A useful Brexit checklist can be found here.

MOSS: Similarly, as the UK is out of the EU's VAT regime, sellers of goods/services that fall under MOSS (digital products, subscriptions, digital services etc) are also affected:

1. Merchants can no longer register for EU MOSS in the UK after the 10th of January;
2. The UK MOSS system will remain open for declarations for sales made in the last quarter of 2020;
3. Merchants selling MOSS products to UK consumers will have to register and pay VAT in the UK. READ MORE
4. The 10000 EUR threshold for cross-border sales of digital services inside the EU will no longer apply.
5. Non-EU merchants cannot use their UK VAT registrations to sell products/services to EU based consumers.

VAT Number Validation: The UK is no longer part of the VIES system, thus local VAT numbers cannot be validated via the EU databases. The UK has launched their own VAT Validation service here.

Our team has updated our Automated European Union VAT module to reflect the Brexit changes. We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and provide automated tax support for our UK based merchants wherever possible.

Updates:

1. German VAT has been raised to 19%;
2. MOSS period has been updated;
3. MOSS destination rules do not apply for UK consumers anymore;
4. For UK merchants selling to UK consumers, VAT will be automatically calculated according to the type of product(s) being sold;
5. Reduced rates are unaffected;
6. VAT number validation for UK numbers is no longer supported. We are actively working in solving this and offer automated validation in the near future.

6.5 Bug fixes and improvements.  

1. We have split the "successful subscription sale" email template into two different emails. The 'Recurring Subscription Sale" and 'New Subscription Sale'  templates which you can edit separately;
2. Superbolt "/login" URL now redirects to the "/account" URL;
3. Removed plug&paid help articles that were showing in whitelabel platforms;
4. Fixed an issue that was not allowing discounts to be created without an expiry date;
5. Fixed multiple UX issues in the cart;
6. Fixed an issue with the embed code and copy-to-clipboard function of "Custom HTML" elements;
7. Fixed a bug that was clearing product information when updating variations.

Before we start with the updates, we have a few important announcements:

1. German VAT will be raised back up to 19% starting January 1st 2021.
2. With the next update, CTAs will no longer be maintained. CTAs were the precursor of 'Channels', and were discontinued in December 2019. Click on "Channels" in the sidebar and if you have CTAs, they will have a warning icon. Make sure you stop using any CTAs (old links, buttons) and replace them with Channels.
3. Our team is actively reviewing the Brexit situation and will announce any changes needed as soon as possible.

Stripe users in Malaysia and Singapore can now accept payments with GrabPay in their respective local currencies (MYR & SGD). The requirements to use GrabPay are:

• you own a Stripe account based in Malaysia or Singapore;
• you are selling in MYR or SGD;
• your customers are from Malaysia or Singapore;

GrabPay is available across the whole plug&paid platform, including plugs, invoices and affiliate payouts.

Pause/Unpause Subscriptions

Active subscriptions can now be paused/unpaused at any time. You can choose to offer services for free or void all upcoming if you cannot provide your services for a period of time.

Manage Discounts

You can now add and remove discounts from an active subscription at any time. When creating a discount, you have the option to offer a discount (fixed amount or percentage) once, a specific number of months, or lifetime.

Other Improvements

• Optimised the 3d Secure exceptions when a customer updates their credit card details for their subscription;
• You can now see the upcoming invoice of an active subscription;

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where some subscription products were not being removed  when detaching a Stripe account;

We have added support for the Russian language in the plug&paid dashboard and the checkout cart. You, your customers, Affiliate Partners and your Superbolts clients can enjoy the local experience by switching the language from Settings.

The language is in BETA at the moment, so if you find any issues or have any recommendations for improvements, please get in touch with our Support team.

New Integration for Romanian merchants: Zap Courier

Our merchants based in Romania will be thrilled to find out that plug&paid is now fully integrated with Zap Courier, a local and affordable shipping company;

1. Your customers can fetch automated shipping rates  when purchasing your products;
2. You can generate labels and tracking numbers for your sales by choosing the "Add Tracking" option in your order's options menu;
3. When you Add Tracking for an order, your customer will receive a tracking number and link for tracking the shipping progress of the order, and the merchant receives the shipping label (AWB) over email.
4. You can attach your own API credentials and connect your Zap Courier account for even better negotiated rates;
5. Cash on Delivery orders will have a higher shipping cost, due to the trip the courier takes in order to return the cash payment from the customer.

The Invoice module has received a major update with many new features and highly awaited improvements:

Updates to the Invoice Payment Flow

When a customer attempts to a pay an invoice, the process can be interrupted and fail for multiple reasons such bad connection, payment gateway issues etc.

If the customer wants to switch payment gateways after initiating a payment request, they now have the option to restart the payment process with the click of a button. This applies to affiliate payouts as well.

Invoice Customizer (Beta)

You can now edit the invoice background, text colour and other minor elements of your invoices. Beware of the printer ink when changing the background.

Other Improvements

• You can now edit the labels "License Keys" and "Terms" in your invoices and customise them according to language;
• You can now customize the Appendix content of your invoices for each supported language;
• Our users pointed out that in some countries it is legally required to have the customer information in the invoice in a specific position (either left or right). Now you have the option to set this up, according to your country's requirements;
• You can now create an Invoice for any customer inside plug&paid. The customer's billing information, invoice prefix and next available invoice number will be automatically filled in according to their past invoices;
• Invoices now support: Storno Invoices - just add a negative price to your invoice item if you want to create a negative invoice that will cancel another invoice. Many countries use this method when an older invoice (that was already submitted to the government) needs to be changed. Make sure you check with your accountant first, if you ever decide to use this feature.
• Invoice numbers now auto-increment when creating custom Invoices, so that now all of your invoices have unique numbers by default, and you never have to worry about the invoice numbering again (unless you really need to, in which case you are still free to enter any number).

We added support for RazorPay one-off payments. You can now:

• attach your Razorpay account, by following a simple tutorial;
• add Razorpay as a payment method in checkout plugs, donations, custom invoices;
• execute Affiliate Payouts with Razorpay, if your partner has linked their Razorpay account in their Affiliate Portal account;

Now you can set any plug Upsell to become an Order Bump with the tick of a checkbox:

You can find this option when editing or adding a new Upsell, in the upsell setup sheet.

Order Discounts

Before this update, any discounts you would add would be applied separately, per product. Now we've also added Order Discounts, which apply to the whole order and can be mapped to any plug.

Country Discounts

You can now set up special discounts, depending on the customer's country.

Payment Method Discounts

You can now set up special discounts, depending on the payment method the customer chooses at checkout.

You can now edit the content of all outgoing emails facing your customers, in any of the languages that the plug&paid checkout supports:

You can find this option under Settings / Branding / Email Sending. In order to be able to edit the emails, you need to have added your own email service provider in the SMTP setup section. This is to ensure if a user uses spammy text, the other merchants are not affected (by being flagged as spammers for using a shared email address).

Stripe has recently updated their Subscriptions API with new functionalities, and we couldn't help it but to update our integration to bring you the new options.

So now, when selling multiple subscriptions in the same checkout, the plug&paid system will now generate an invoice for each subscription separately. Before this update, they were bundled together in a single subscription. Also, subscription discounts only stack if they have the same duration.

You can now also sell multiple subscriptions with different billing cycles in the same checkout.

Redirects

We have refactored the way the "redirect on successful purchase" works in the cart. Some users were experiencing issues with this, as their customers had to wait for the payment confirmation to arrive, and some payment methods sometimes take longer to confirm. As a result, they were going back to the checkout and paying with a different payment method, resulting in a duplicate payment for the same cart.

Now, we show the "thank you" message instantly and tell them to wait, without displaying a loader. For most payment methods, the confirmation comes within seconds, so they get redirected to your URL. If it happens to take longer, the customer can no longer place the same order again. However, if they close the tab, obviously they won't be redirected, but they will receive the purchase email.

So, if you are using this feature, we recommend you also add the redirect URL in the invoice annex or purchase email, for these rare cases when the payment takes longer to confirm.

Other Improvements

• The custom invoices made by the merchant are now also visible in the Customer Portal, so the customer can pay them from there as well;
• Improved phone number formatting in the email footer to use the local formatting, depending on the merchant's country;
• Added the customer country prefix at checkout, when collecting the phone number;
• Fixed the "€" sign positioning, depending on the customer's country in the cart, invoices and emails.
• Add Kenya to checkout countries;
• Updated the Sofort and Alipay integrations to the latest Stripe API guidelines;

• Fixed an issue where sometimes the stock did not decrease after a successful purchase;
• The Custom Tax Rate configured in Plug Settings now overrides the account-level tax settings;

You can now create Cookie Affiliate Programs, where instead of promoting a checkout link, your Affiliate Partners can now promote your own Landing Page, with commission tracking via cookies that expire after a configurable time:

All you need to do is embed a code snippet and add one or multiple plug&paid Channels (links, buttons, widgets) to your Landing Page and you're all set!

We have also updated the Affiliates dashboard reports with more information related to refunds and commissions:

Other improvements

• Instalment Commissions & Taxes - the affiliate program commission calculation now excludes the tax amount;
• When a sale is done, the Affiliate Partner attributed to that sale now gets an email notification that includes the commission amount and sales amount.
• When a refund is done, the Affiliate Partner  gets an email notification as well;
• Added the Affiliate Partner name in the Affiliate Partners tables;
• Added name and commissions columns in the Affiliates sheet;
• We are now showing "pending approval" affiliates under the Affiliates sheet as well (in addition to the program sheet) so it's easier to find;

The merchant dashboard is going local! We've added support for  German and French languages, so you, your Affiliate Partners or your Superbolts clients can enjoy the local experience by switching the language from Settings.

• Increased session expiry timer to 72h, you can now stay permanently logged in if you open your plug&paid dashboard at least once every 3 days;

We have now split the Superbolts app away from the plug&paid app, as a separate product, with its own homepage and login page.

As a result, users that owned both plug&paid and Superbolts app have had their accounts split during the migration. If you log into your own custom.domain.com/account page, you will be able to access your Superbolts app from there as well. If you log into plugnpaid.com/login, you won't see the Superbolts app anymore.

We also have a new Superbolts onboarding wizard:

This change was needed in anticipation of the future separation of the Superbolts app onto its own separate server and domain, as an independent solution for agencies.

We've been busy in the past few weeks, preparing this release, which brings tons of improvements and bug fixes, and marks the beginning of our Public API.

New Features

• Public API (beta): we have exposed a few Public API endpoints, as requested by some of our users (list products, add service, add physical product, list sales & list customers). All accounts now have a monthly API quota (check API Settings to see your quota) which will ensure there will be no abuse or service interruptions for fellow users. See more details (including the API docs) under API Settings, in your plug&paid dashboard.
• Refer-a-Friend Program: you can now refer friends (by using your unique link) to use plug&paid and you will receive a €10 credit for each friend that subscribes to one of our plans. For "pay-as-you-go", you will receive your credit as soon as your friend's subscription becomes positive (at the next billing cycle after making at least a successful sale). You can spend the credit on addons, subscriptions and upgrades for your plug&paid account.
• Added FXP Bank support for Malaysian Stripe users;

Improvements

• You can now set your preferred default payment gateway at checkout, from the Gateways tab of your plug sheet;
• You can now customize and translate the "Recommended" text for multi-product checkouts;
• Added new Indexing Settings under Settings / Shop Information, which allows you to disable search indexing for your hosted checkout pages;

The most requested feature by our users has finally gone live! Our team has done a wonderful job at offering our users this incredible tool to multiply their sales.

You can now create your own Affiliate Programs and get a "ready-made" landing page to promote to your Affiliate Partners, allowing them to join and sell your products in exchange for commissions.

Oh, and did I mention the Affiliate Marketplace? Read more below.

Affiliate Programs

• You can add multiple Affiliate Programs;
• When adding a Program, you can add the description of the program, which can be styled using the HTML editor, the commission value or percentage, which products are available for affiliate sales and more.
• Make your Partner's job easier by adding marketing copy and uploading banners for them to download and use in their campaigns;
• Offer refunds by adding a Payouts Delay;
• Offer one-time, recurring and lifetime commissions for Subscriptions;
• Choose any combination of our existing Payment Gateways to execute Payouts via payment links;
• Create private Programs, which have no hosted landing page;
• You can manually approve partners that want to join your program, or you can set it to "auto-approve". If a partner breaks your terms, you can always kick them off your program.
• Public programs get a hosted and customizable Affiliate Program Landing Page;

Affiliate Partners

• Portal: your partners get their own account and can use the Affiliate Portal to get their unique Checkout Links, keep track of Sales, Commissions and Payouts, as well as to join new Programs.
• Bonuses: allow your partners to add a "Bonus" section in the Thank You page and purchase email, to increase your sales by enticing their audience with more added value. This feature can be turned on or off.

Affiliate Marketplace

This is a great way to boost your sales, even if you do not know any Affiliate Marketer. All plug&paid Users and Affiliate Partners can now see our Affiliate Marketplace in the Affiliates section of their admin panel and browse through the public Programs.

As the Marketplace grows, the number of Affiliate Partners that will join your program will grow, and so will your sales.

Superbolts

We also added some love for users that subscribed to our Superbolts reseller plan. They can:

• activate their own whitelabel "Affiliate Marketplace", which is a paid addon and will show in the admin panels of their clients;
• disable the Affiliates module from their Settings.

Surprise Feature

In order to help sellers with European customers, we have built a VAT reports section, which provides you with useful and centralized information that will help you submit your VAT and MOSS reports faster. You can find this feature under Invoices / VAT Breakdown.

Improvements

• You can now set a "Minimum Order Price" in your Plug Settings;
• Depending on the payment method, the Thank You page of the checkout funnel will show different messages, making it more clear that the customer must complete the payment in the new tab (or offline), for non-credit card purchases;
• You can now easily see the product category under the product name, in the Products table;
• We now display the plan price and VAT separately on the Sign-Up page for Superbolts plans;
• We have removed the "Total Amount Spent" metric from the Customer Portal;
• You can now use Order Approval for free orders as well;
• You can now select the Product Variation when creating an Invoice;
• You can now send the updated invoice to your customer when marking the order as "Paid";
• You can now Approve and Decline what reviews to show on your checkout pages, from the Checkout Customizer;

This release of plug&paid, version 5.5, is introducing the Invoices feature, which, in itself, is a highly valuable tool in your Online Sales arsenal, but in the same time it's a requirement for our upcoming big release: Affiliates. In order to be able to support Payouts with different payment methods, the affiliates needed the Payment Links that we've just built, as part of the Invoicing module.

New Feature

Invoices! You can now create custom invoices within plug&paid, so you can safely let go of your current invoicing software. To generate a new invoice, click Invoices in the sidebar and then click the "Create Invoice" button on the top. The invoice has support for everything you need, out of the box:

Once you generate an invoice, you will get a unique URL that you can share with your client, or you can simply have it emailed to them with just one click. Your customer can pay the invoice directly, by accessing the invoice URL you shared, or by clicking the button inside the email.

You can opt in to receive the payment for your invoices with all of our supported payment methods, and you will be notified in the plug&paid app and over email, once the payment is confirmed.

Save time by giving your accountant a teammate account to be able to download and process your invoices, or by simply adding his/her email address under Settings / Notification Settings, to receive all your invoice emails, which include the invoice PDF.

• You can now re-arrange the order of the images of your product in the cart:

• Superbolts users now receive an email whenever a client subscription is cancelled;

• Fixed a bug where the second variation option was not showing in the invoice, if its value had a single character;

The time has come for a new platform update, bringing new features and improvements, like always.

New Features

• New Cart Template with side menu, which is automatically used if you add 4 or more products for a plug. This new template is very useful for restaurants and shops with multiple products, and offers a scrollable side-menu, that makes it easier for the customer to browser the existing offering:

• Pending Orders: this is a new page inside your admin panel, which shows all of the new orders that might require your attention. This page automatically updates when new orders come in, making it very useful to quickly process new orders (for example restaurants can keep this page open on a tablet, to approve new orders and mark them as shipped):

• When an order is considered "done", just click the "done" checkmark icon to archive it to Invoices. This action does not affect anything else.
• New in-app notifications on new sales, that show in the bottom left corner, no matter where you are in the admin panel:

• New Chatbot integrations: Tawk.to, Continually and Crisp Chat
• Webhooks for Superbolts clients: you can now set up "per client" webhooks, by using the new "Webhooks" tab on your client sheet. You can also set up Zapier integrations for your clients, by using the "per client" API token, which can also be found on the client sheet:

Improvements

• The cart design had an overall design polish, with better paddings, smaller input fields, more reliable carousels for images and an improved mobile experience.
• We have de-coupled the "Paid" and "Shipped" as separate statuses for your invoices, and introduced new general statuses: New, Awaiting payment, Done. When an order is "Awaiting payment", it means the customer placed the order and went to the payment processing page, but the payment hasn't been confirmed yet.
• You can now disable Stock Management from Settings / Shop Information / Stock Management. If you disable it, the stock will automatically be re-listed after an order is completed, ensuring unlimited stock. This does not apply to digital products with manual licenses.

Fixes

• Fixed a bug where variations with single-letter values would not show up in the invoice.
• Fixed a bug where, on slow internet connections, cart carousels were showing the same image.
• Several other minor bug fixes.
